Phone scripts for requesting donations

The Red Canary Magazine phone scripts for making cold calls to potential and repeat donors during one of their campaigns. This was the content I wrote for them.

INTRO FOR EXISTING DONORS

RCC: Hi there! My name is Tracy and I am calling from Red Canary Collective, a creative agency for environmental and social justice based in Portland, Oregon.

I noticed that you recently donated to our cause. First off, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous contribution. That went toward paying our journalists for their great work amplifying the best of humanity’s thoughts and actions. Your help was invaluable.

I’m surely catching you in the middle of something, so I will make this brief. I would love to create some space on the calendar to have a short Zoom call so we can discuss some of our latest projects. What days work best for you to connect this week?

Wonderful! I’ll send over a calendar invite now with the Zoom link attached. Looking forward to connecting soon and furthering our conversation.

Have a great day!

INTRO FOR PROSPECTIVE DONORS

Hi, my name is Tracy and I’m calling from Red Canary Collective, a creative agency for social and environmental justice. I want to express my admiration for the work you do. We recently saw your publication on... [state specifically what they do, or what they donate to], and it deeply resonates with our mission.  Do you have a minute to speak? This will be brief.

What do you think really inspires people to take action when it comes to climate change and social justice movements? On the news we hear about global warming, the increasing amount of homelessness, people of color constantly subjected to police abuse, indigenous women suffering from murder rates 10 times the national average—the list goes on and on. It’s overwhelming. Don’t you think?

RCC: Well, we believe that, instead of making everyone feel hopeless, we should be giving people reasons to hope—and to take action. The way we do that is by amplifying the best of humanity’s thoughts and actions, not the worst.

RCC: There are many people out there fighting for a sustainable equitable future. Learning about them is what actually inspires others to participate. And that’s what we do. We make the world aware of movements pushing for a brighter future.

RCC: I would love to create some space on our calendars to have a brief  Zoom call, so we can discuss how our missions align, our shared passion for social and environmental justice, and a potential partnership with Red Canary Collective.

What days work best for you to connect this week? Wonderful! I’ll send over a calendar invite now with the Zoom link attached. Looking forward to connecting soon and furthering our conversation. Have a great day!
